Product Details

Rum & Raisin - Hoochery Distillery 30.4% ABV

Appearance

Deep mahogany colour, reminiscent of aged sherry and dark chocolate. Viscous legs cling to the glass, hinting at richness and weight.

Nose

  • Primary Aromas: Warm molasses and caramel from the Ord River rum.
  • Secondary Notes: Raisin sweetness layered with dried fig and date from the PX Sherry.
  • Accents: Cocoa powder and a whisper of bitter chocolate, balanced by a faint nuttiness.

Palate

  • Entry: Silky and full-bodied, with an immediate hit of rum’s earthy sweetness.
  • Mid-Palate: Raisin and stewed fruit dominate, interwoven with cacao depth and a touch of coffee bean.
  • Bitters Influence: Chocolate bitters add a dry, elegant edge, preventing the sweetness from overwhelming.
  • Finish: Long and warming, with lingering notes of dark chocolate, oak spice, and a hint of orange peel.

Texture

Velvety and luxurious, coating the palate without cloying. The PX Sherry lends a luscious mouthfeel, while the bitters provide structure.

Overall Impression

A decadent, dessert-like cocktail that balances richness with complexity. Perfect for slow sipping after dinner, paired with dark chocolate or a cigar.
